AUSTRALIAN FARMING SEASONS

Winter Crops (Cereals, Grains, Legumes and Canola)

Planting normally occurs from April to June.  During this time there is a high need for tractor drivers.

Harvesting normally occurs from September to January.   In Queensland, the crops are ready before the southern states, so you are able to work your way down the country as a Header/Combine Harvester Driver.  This is a great way to see the country while working.  Other high need positions include chaser bin drivers and truck drivers.  This is a great time to literally work your way across the country.

 

 

Summer Crops (Sorghum, Sunflowers, Soybeans)

Planting normally occurs from September to January.  During this time there is a high need for tractor drivers.

Harvesting normally occurs from February to May.   Jobs in high demand for the summer crop harvest are similar to what is needed for the winter crop harvest.

 

Cotton Season

Planting occurs from September to November.  During this time there is a high need for tractor drivers and irrigation workers.

The picking normally runs from March until late May.  During this time there is a high need for Cotton Picker Operators, Boll Buggy Operators, Module Builder Operators and Cotton Gin Workers.
